HOW DID IT COME TO BE AND HOW DID IT CHANGE IN THE FUTURE
Exploring the possibilities of change by applying nontraditional material and processes.
With this experiment I wanted to investigate whether concrete in itself could contain qualities which could project a natural, rich and sensual texture not normally associated with the material.
Natural material like stone or wood are created by a combination of elemental forces. Wind, weather, geological influence all being applied for extended periods of time, making the material come alive and evolve an historical property of its own.
HAS CONCRETE ESTHETICALLY PROPERTIES OF ITS OWN ?
Exploring the possibilities of change by applying nontraditional material and process. with this experiments I wanted to investigate whether concrete itself could project a naturral, rich and sensual texture not normally associated to this material. Natural material like stone or wood are created by a combination of elemental forces. The process is based on an idea of the ability to achieve a change through a procedure of adding a material randomley and then later remove it with a dynamic process, such as the application of fire. The choices of added material, and the uncontrollable characteristics of fire gives and endless variation, qualities and random pattern, similar to what you find in the nature. The different appearances that came as a direct result of the experiment allows for the possibility of further to development of the poetry of concrete as a material.
Possibilities :
TIME These materials display a variety of qualities that are able to change and developas they mature and season over time.
INVISIBLE Qualities of random patterns an unpredictability has the possibility of merging Into the surrounding environment
CONTRAST A material living and portraying Its own life as a contrast to a very static and controlled building mass.
